Left Over Field Roast

Left Over Field Roast

What do you get when you are the only vegetarians at a large Thanksgiving gathering? If you take along a 2lb. Celebration Field Roast for yourselves, you may end up with a lot left over.

It was my first time to try Field Roast and was surprised by it’s taste. The texture was very nice and I liked the pepper and sage flavors but I thought it was a lot saltier than similar products I had enjoy past holiday celebrations.

An idea I came up with for the pound that we were left with was to make vegan barbeque out of it with a healthy portion of Camp Sauce and a little diced minced onion.

Ingredients:
1 lb. left over Celebration Field Roast
1 Tablespoon dried minced Onion
1/2 Cup Camp Sauce

Directions:
Slice the left over Field Roast (if it isn’t already) then slice each section into thin shreds. Blend with Camp Sauce and dried onion and allow it to sit for at least an hour to allow the flavors to integrate. Heat and serve on rolls.

  1. Great idea!! I’ve never had a Field Roast and well…I never even heard of it! I had Tofurky for the first time this year. I’d always resisted it because I thought – what’s the point? But I have to say, it was pretty darn tasty and surprisingly close to what I remember turkey tasting like.
